Savory London Broil
Ingredients
1 1/2 cups catsup
1 cup water
2/3 cup lemon juice
4 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
2 bay leaves
1 teaspoon cracked or coarsely ground black pepper
dash bottled hot pepper sauce
2 1/2 pounds of Laura's Top Round Steak, cut thick
Directions
1. For marinade, combine all ingredients except steak and simmer uncovered for 10 minutes in a saucepan. Cool to room temperature.
2. Pour over steak in shallow baking dish; let stand in refrigerator several hours or overnight, turning steak occasionally.
3. Grill or broil steak to desired doneness. Slice across grain.
Additional serving suggestions: Leftover sliced round steak is excellent tossed in salads or on sandwiches.
Makes 8 servings.
Cooking Tip: When grilling, make sure your coals are hot. Start cooking meat at the hottest spot of the grill, then move to cooler points according to the thickness. Thicker pieces of meat should be placed on the cooler sections of the grill. When broiling, the second side to be broiled will generally take half the time to cook compared to the first side.
