My First Week

Hello Challenge Team,

This week has been a very busy week, but I haven’t stopped for fast food. I’m not on any specific diet plan, just being conscious of what is going into my mouth.

Each day I drink 3-4 (16.9 oz.) water. There are not a lot of good choices for fresh fruit where I live, so I purchased  large bags of frozen fruit from Sam’s club. The only raw vegetables I like are carrots, broccoli and cauliflower.

The weather conditions are changing, so chances of me getting out to walk will be very slim. I invested in Leslie Sansone‘s “walk at home” dvd

After speaking with our “stick to challenge” dietitian, Jennifer Kramer, I will be contacting a local dietitian. My insurance allows me to speak to a  dietitian 4 times a year.

Way to go on not stopping for fast food. This can be a challenge for me as well, because of the convenience!

I’m so glad your insurance has coverage for a dietitian, that will be really helpful in the long run! I’ve heard great things about that walking video, one of my friends does it all the time and loves it so I hope you do too. Sounds like you’re doing a great job with planning ahead – the video, looking into the dietitian, buying the frozen fruits, and getting veggies to have on hand.

Hi Mattie! Thank you so much for the inspiration. I just ordered “Walk Away Your Hips and Thighs.” Can’t wait to try it! Keep working hard! My mom used to say, “nothing tastes as good as being thin and healthy feels.” I have to remind myself of that EVERY DAY!

It sounds like you’re off to a good start! The weather around my house (outside Buffalo, NY) certainly isn’t good enough to go outside and walk. Yesterday was only 14 degrees, there are snowbanks on either side of the road, and patches of ice everywhere! I have several Leslie Sansone DVDs, so last night I popped one in and got in a good walk.

I depend a lot on frozen fruit, too. Once a week I buy a big bag of frozen strawberries, and I have a strawberry smoothie with my breakfast just about every morning. I fill a 16-oz glass up with frozen strawberries and microwave it for about 70-80 seconds to partially thaw the berries, then toss them in the blender with about half a glass of water and a packet of Stevia (a natural sweetener – one packet is equal to about 2 tsp sugar). This morning there were three pieces of fresh pineapple left after making breakfast & lunches, so I tossed them in too. It was delicious, healthy, and kept me full until my morning snack!
