This week has been pretty good. I am still writing down my food and making sure I eat balanced meals. Here is one of my delicious salads I made with LLB. Romaine lettuce, left over couscous, left over grilled steak, raw carrots, fresh parsley, fresh cilantro, EVOO and red wine vinegar. SOOOOO GOOOOD!!! This week I was also able to add in some great activity. My parents just bought 33 acres in MI, and we went up to walk the property and check it out. I loaded … continued…

Reading through this week’s posts, I think Julie’s blog title sums up a common theme for all of us as we make this journey to a healthier lifestyle: “Sometimes life gets in the way.” Kids get sick, we have to work overtime, we wake up to 10 inches of snow and our entire schedule is thrown off in an instant … what can you do? Adjust and keep going. Julie shared a great example about having to redirect her attention … continued…
I was sad to hear of Jack LaLanne’s passing this week. But he is definitely a great example of living a healthy full lifestyle throughout the golden years. Inspiring. As for this past week, I did well with both activity and meal planning. I had more time opportunity to get in 6 days of exercise and several days of healthy meals. Meal planning: I think my family has officially started to become sick of chili for dinner. Working and making … continued…
Well, life has taken an unexpected turn this week, and I’ve had to make some adjustments to my exercise plan. I also didn’t do as well on my diet plan because of the change in schedule, but let me explain… Basement work: I am in the process of finishing my basement myself. Some of the work I have contracted out but a lot of it I have been doing myself. I really need to get it done because I am … continued…
Well, I have begun to realize that my food plan is good and balanced. According to Jenny, I get the right amount of calories to safely lose weight, but I am still not seeing the weight drop. She did mention that I may not be getting enough calcium and Vitamin D, so this week I made sure to have at least 2 servings of dairy each day and have even picked up a calcium supplement with Vitamin D added to … continued…
I have read all the blogs on here and other diet blogs and one steady complaint that I have heard is not having time for a “routine diet”. Ok, so you can’t keep it perfect every day? That’s okay. Find what works for YOU! I am a picky eater, a wife, a mother of two teenage girls, and work full time. So, what works for me may seem difficult to others or simple. The point is it’s what works for … continued…
On Monday, I talked about the importance of lean protein in your weight-loss efforts and identified foods that are good sources of it. One misconception I hear frequently in my work as a dietician is the idea that red meat can’t be part of a healthy lifestyle. Many dieters believe they have to replace the burgers they love with chicken, turkey or fish because of beef’s reputation for being high in fat and cholesterol. It is, to a degree, a … continued…
